Sewing
Course Expectations for Sewing:
Recommended for grades 7-12
Students will gain knowledge and experience in basic machine operation, knowing all the parts of the sewing machine, creating a library of various types of stitches and being able to replicate them; understanding and reading patterns, creating projects like pajama pants, book bags, sewing caddy etc. from patterns; learning about various types of material; hand sewing, and embroidery.

Following is a list of general supplies needed for the class:
Note: We will be discussing needle choices, thread choices, fabric choices etc. in the first class.
1” three ring binder
6-8 binder dividers
Double stick tape
Spiral notebook and pen/pencil for note taking
Sewing machine in good working order
Bobbins
Small screwdriver (most machines come with one)
Plastic shoe box or sewing case containing the following:
Sewing machine needles
Hand sewing needles (variety pack)
Sharp Sewing Shears
Seam ripper
Pins
Pin cushion or pin box
Tape measure
Fabric marking pen or pencil
Thread
There will be additional supplies necessary as we progress.
