Conduct and Dress Codes

The purpose of this Conduct and Dress Code is to establish a means for our students to create a positive learning environment, which allows students to reach their full potential for education. ARCHES encourages our parents and students to adhere to a higher standard than is seen in the current culture and to make virtuous choices in behavior and dress.

Our overall goals for ARCHES students are:
  • To prepare for success in this environment as well as in college and beyond.
  • Not to distract other students from succeeding, within our classes or any outside activities, through their dress, behavior, or words.

Conduct
The following are not allowed at ARCHES:
  • Talking at inappropriate times during class
  • Disrespectful or threatening language to adults, tutors, or other students
  • Weapons of any kinds at any ARCHES class or activity. This includes pocket knives, multi-tools, toy weapons, etc.
  • Physical violence of any kind (including roughhousing, punching, etc.).
  • Leaving the classroom or study hall without permission.
  • Treating the bathroom as a social room.
  • Being in the kitchen unless under the direct supervision of a tutor or monitor (i.e. science or food prep classes).
  • Inappropriate displays of affection between students including hand-holding embracing, etc.
  • NO cell phones cameras, or internet devices. Only music listening MP3 players or i-pods that are strictly for music listening, no internet capabilities.
  • All electronic devices such as iPods are strictly forbidden in classrooms and during testing. Any such device found in use at these times will be confiscated and the student will receive disciplinary action. Cameras are not allowed unless there is a good reason and prior permission has been granted by that day's administrator.
  • Use of drugs, alcohol, or illegal substances of any kind within any ARCHES function. (Violations will result in immediate expulsion with no refund.)
  • Smoking anywhere during any ARCHES function
  • Lack of respect shown to property, such as graffiti, inappropriate behavior resulting in the damage of equipment, etc. Violators will be required to provide restitution.

Dress
  • Underclothing must be worn and not seen. This includes low-rise pants and bra straps.
  • Midriff skin may not be exposed.
  • Clothing must be modest. No short skirts or shorts and necklines should not be revealing.
  • No spaghetti-strap tops, unless covered by another shirt.
  • No holes in pants, shirts, etc.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Caps or hats are not to be worn indoors.
  • Leggings, Yoga Pants, and Jeggings may be worn ONLY if the shirt/dress worn with them is mid-thigh length so that when the arms are at sides, the hem naturally hangs below fingertips. The shirt may MUST be solid enough that one is not able to see through it.
  • As styles change, ARCHES will change dress and conduct codes as appropriate to the standards set by the board and ARCHES families.
