Career Exploration and Preparation
Course Expectations for Career Exploration and Preparation:
Recommended for grades 9-12.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” This question can be paralyzing or invite truth-stretching. This course will teach students to look at their gifts from God and how those can be translated into a fulfilling career. In the Fall, students will gain a better understanding of themselves and identify their vocational interests through assessment tools. They will explore careers and validate their career interests by connecting with professionals in the community. In the Spring, students are guided through completing a capstone project in their career area of interest. These lessons also help students recognize and cultivate relevant job skills that are valued across occupations.
Minimum Expectations:
Required Books:
Career Exploration and Preparation by Cheri Frame, Credits Before College. This is available on www.creditsbeforecollege.com. A biography of choice is required in the fall (see page 9 of Credits Before College for recommendations). Start Here by Alex and Brett Harris (ISBN 978-1601422705) will be read in the spring.
