Latin I
Learn how the Latin language works and the basics of Latin grammar. Begin learning vocabulary and translation. Studying Latin will reinforce and expand the students' mastery of and ability to read, write, and speak the English language effectively. It also encourages logical thinking and reasoning skills. Learn Latin in the context of Roman history and the Catholic Church.
Students will be expected to learn the “stuff” of the language (vocabulary, grammar forms, etc.) largely during their home studies. This home aspect of the study of Latin is hugely important. Learning the parts of the language at home will allow us to use the class time to focus on putting the parts together in learning to translate and use the language.
