Spanish II
Spanish Level I will have more drill, reinforcement times and activities on Thursdays. Spanish II will have more conversational and written work to reinforce the language on Thursdays. Homework will be expected from all students. Memorization work is required.
Course Expectations for Spanish II
Minimum Expectations:
• Parents will assume all responsibility for making sure homework assignments are done on time and
turned in to the tutor when requested.
• Students will attend class regularly and participate in the discussion. Prior notice of all absences is
required.
• Quizzes and tests are not an optional part of the class. Students will be quizzed on Spanish
vocabulary and grammar periodically.
• A minimal amount of ARCHES class time is spent on learning vocabulary. Students are
responsible for memorizing the assigned vocabulary words in their individual home school’s class
time.
• In order for this class to have full credit value, it is highly recommended that parents provide
additional related learning experiences outside of this class.
Spanish Enrichment Suggestions:
Additional research projects and writing assignments on topics of Spanish culture
Memorize basic Catholic prayers in Spanish.
Attend Mass at a Spanish-speaking church
Travel to a Spanish speaking area
Participate in a missions trip to a Spanish-speaking area
ARCHES tutorial based classes are designed to supplement course work being done in home schools,
thereby following the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church in proclaiming parents as the primary
educators of their children.
Recommended for students in 9th-10th grade.
Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of Spanish I or score of 80% or higher in placement tests (oral and written)
