Parental Responsibilities
Parents will fulfill their role as primary educators by:
Parents will support ARCHES by:
- Supervising completion of homework assignments.
- Providing experiences outside of class to enhance what their students learn during class time.
- Monitoring their students' progress by consistently reviewing test and paper grades.
- Working directly with their students on the writing assignments to ensure they are done to the best of the student's ability.
- Issuing final grades for their student's work in each subject area. The grades/evaluations given in classes are only for work done on specific assignments or for class participation. Parents will issue an overall grade based on these plus supplemental work done at home.
- Providing required materials for each of their students. Because sharing materials has a tendency to disrupt the flow of the class, each student is required to have their own books, school supplies, and other required items.
- Parents and students are required to read the Course Expectations Form for every class enrolled in. This form outlines the minimum expectations for students and parents, and will suggest enrichment ideas for further home study of each subject.
Parents will support ARCHES by:
- Paying for classes at the beginning of each semester.
- Serving as monitor or buying-out each semester. The number of times each person monitors is based on the number of classes your family takes. Those taking one class monitor (or buy-out) one time; two classes, two times; with a maximum of FOUR monitoring commitments (or buy-outs $120) per family. Buy-outs are allowed at $30 per time.
- Agreeing to participate in one or more fundraising opportunities. Details will be given at the required August Parent Orientation meeting and are available in the "Fundraising" pages of the web site.
