Ballroom Dancing
Ballroom Dancing will cover several of the 25+ Ballroom Dance styles including East Coast Swing, Tango, Cha-Cha, and Waltz. This applied performance class will teach students how to be able to dance socially. This will improve skills in coordination, etiquette, and muscle memory, leading or following a dance partner, as well as learning dances that can be practiced and used as a quality social activity throughout their lives. The class will conclude with a choreographed showcase. Parents will issue grades at their own discretion. Minimum Expectations: attendance, participation, and the final showcase.
Course Expectations for Ballroom Dancing
Minimum Expectations:
• Class participation is essential as this is an applied performance class.
• Students will be graded on their participation through their performances and in-class and
out-of-class work based on the skill level of each child.
• Students will attend class regularly and are required to participate in the activities and
exercises. Prior notice of all absences is required.
Enrichment Suggestions:
• Additional practice at home on any skills covered in the previous week’s class
ARCHES tutorial based classes are designed to supplement course work being done in home
schools, thereby following the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church in proclaiming parents as
the primary educators of their children.
Recommended for students in any grade.
