Algebra I

Course Expectations for Algebra I:
Recommended for students in 8th-9th grade.

Grades will be issued each semester based on class participation, homework, quizzes, and test scores.
Students need a 3-ringed binder with some graph paper (everything in class will be 3-hole punched), pencils, eraser, highlighter, scientific calculator (no graphing calculators, please).

Minimum Expectations:
• Parents will assume all responsibility for making sure homework assignments are done on time, checked by the parent with the solution manual and initialed by the parent. Homework is graded on completion, work shown and parents initials.
• Students will attend class regularly and participate in the discussion.
• Absence from class will be reflected in a student’s participation portion of the grade.
• All homework from missed classes must be turned in as soon as the student returns to class.
• Tests are usually weekly with a review sheet prior.

ARCHES tutorial-based classes are designed to supplement course work being done in home schools,
thereby following the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church in proclaiming parents as the primary
educators of their children.
