Moral Theology
Course Description:
Students will learn about the basic principles of moral theology, such as authentic freedom, conscience, the moral act, and culpability. They will be prompted to think critically to understand the moral teachings of the Church, and practice prudential judgment by learning to apply the basic moral principles to specific cases, including prominent moral issues in our society.
Since good moral action is founded upon the building of virtues and a relationship with Christ, there will also be an emphasis on developing the spiritual life and compass, through practicing spiritual reading and prayer.
Required Reading Materials:
Living the Good Life, by Mark Lowery, Ph.D. (Book is out of print and will be provided for students to use for a $40 replacement deposit, which will be returned when the book is returned to the tutor in good condition.)
